The Louisville Zoo

As I reflect on this fun outing with the kids from Camp Sunrise and the elders, I can’t find the words to describe it. There were so many precious moments and so much laughter, all in one day! One elder with us had not been out of the facility since she entered more than eight years ago.  She was amazed at the number of cars on the road and that they all had their headlights in the middle of the day!  This 96-year-old, former teacher proved it’s never too late to learn.

We went to the Louisville Zoo, and as we made our way to each animal, she wanted to stand to read about them. I was just amazed by her passion to learn about the animal.  As the day continued, I found precious moments with each of the elders that went, and they were all truly excited to be there.  I was concerned when we went to the 4D Ice Age movie, because the elders that were with me hadn’t experienced this type of movie before, and I wondered, “What will they think? Will they be scared?”  Well, I had no reason to be worried, because they absolutely loved it!
